EVERETT -- The family of a 15-year-old girl who was killed along Highway 2 in a hit-and-run hope a reward and new clue can finally bring them justice.

Investigators now say someone was likely nearby when Heather Trickler was hit and killed by a van on May 30 as she walked along Highway 2.

One witness has come forward saying a 20-year-old man hitched a ride to the Everett Transit station that night. The witness picked him up within yards of where Heather's body was found -- and the timing puts him on the highway at the time of the hit and run. Investigators just want to talk to the guy; perhaps it was a friend walking her home.

"It's confusing, I don't understand how somebody couldn't come forward," said Rob Tricker, Heather's father.

Tears and desperate pleas are not bringing answers, but now police hope a $1,000 reward by CrimeStoppers will.

Washington State Patrol detectives are convinced a blue over tan 1995 Chevrolet Astro van is what hit and killed Heather as she was walking to her father's Lake Stevens home. Her body wasn't found for days.

Rob says he now spends hours trying to communicate with Heather's friends on MySpace and Facebook trying to get people to help get flyers posted with the information surrounding the hit-and-run.

There is a small garden in Rob Trickler's front yard where sweet peas are planted because that was what he called his little girl. He keeps her ashes close, but the nightmares come closer. And until the case is solved, his sleepless nights are here to stay.

"This has consumed my life and it will -- I will not stop until this is resolved," he said.

A fundraiser will be held Aug. 14 and 15 to help raise more money for the reward. It includes a Donation Garage Sale plus a whole lot more.

It will be held at The Rocking Horse on 22nd and Rainier in Everett from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. For more information or to make a donation, e-mail elorac330@hotmail.com.
