SEATTLE -- A person was burned to death in a fire that apparently began at a parking garage in the University District late Tuesday evening.
Some neighbors said they saw a fire near the corner of 11th Avenue NE and NE 43rd Street just after 9 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from the fourth story of a parking garage.
Witnesses said moments after the fire was reported, neighbors raced outside to find a man on fire in the alley. They used a hose and fire extinguisher, but the fire was persistent and the person eventually died.
Seattle police detectives would only say the fire was not accidental, but that it was also not suspicious. They didn't give any other details.
