SEATTLE - A 31-year-old man was shot to death in a South Seattle street early Thursday, and the gunman remains at large.
Police responded to the scene at about 3 a.m. after receiving a number of calls about four to six gunshots fired in the area of Rainier Avenue South and South Byron Street.
Neighbors in the area said they heard some sort of disturbance between the victim and suspect moments before shots rang out.
The victim screamed that he'd been shot, then ran to a nearby alley where he collapsed from his injuries.
Seattle fire personnel responded and treated the victim at the scene. He was then rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
The suspect was seen getting into a vehicle which took off northbound on Rainier Avenue South.
The suspect was described as a black male, 5-feet-10-inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, wearing a white shirt and dark pants.
Police said the incident does not appear to be random.
The name of the man who was killed has not been released, and it was not known what prompted the shooting.
Police cordoned off the scene in the 3300 block of Rainier Avenue South while they interviewed people who were in the area and collected evidence.
