These first graders expect big things this year
They camped, traveled, and really had a fun time.
Now that we know what kids did over summer break, we asked the same group their expectations of the coming school year.
Eli is headed into the second grade, and uses his school experience so far to make a bold prediction.
"Well, in kindergarten, you learn like two things," Eli begins. "In first grade, you learn like four, so probably (we'll learn) 8 or something?"
And then there's Xander...
"My name starts with an 'X' and sounds like a 'Z,' " he clarifies.
So what grade will you be in this year?
"I'm afraid it's first (grade)," Xander responds.
What do you think you're going to learn in the first grade, Xander?
"I think I'm gonna learn...a little...um...um," he begins. Then his eyes are fixed on my recorder, which I'm using to capture his every word.
"How to use a tape recorder," he cleverly finishes.
