4 hurt in car-bus collision in Belltown

SEATTLE - Four people were were injured when a speeding car collided with a Metro bus Saturday afternoon in Belltown.

Medics responded to the scene, at the intersection of Third Avenue and Wall Street, at about 4:10 p.m.


Passengers are removed from the bus on gurneys.

Three people were injured on the bus, including the bus driver, and were removed on gurneys. An officer at the scene said none of the injuries were considered serious.

The driver of the car also sustained minor injuries.

Police said the car was heading west on Wall Street when it ran a red light at the Third Avenue intersection at a high rate of speed. The Metro bus was headed north on Third Avenue and hit the car broadside.

The impact caved in the side of the car and sheered off one of its wheels at the axle.

Witnesses said the car was going so fast its momentum kept it going for a block past the crash scene.

The Metro bus was carrying passengers on Route No. 16 from the Colman Dock ferry terminal, bound for Northgate Mall.
