1 injured in boat collision on Puyallup River

TACOMA, Wash. -- One person was injured when two boats collided near the mouth of the Puyallup River near Commencement Bay on Monday.

The Coast Guard, Tacoma fire officials and medics responded to reports of the collision at 4:20 p.m. and discovered two small boats - a 19-foot boat and a smaller aluminum boat - had crashed.

The injured person was rushed to a local hospital. The person’s name and condition were not immediately released.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
