Search on for armed robbers in Seattle's Green Lake area
SEATTLE -- Police here are on the lookout for robbers who pulled a gun on people walking in the Green Lake neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
Police said one woman came face-to-face with the robbers near Evans Pool around 1 a.m.
"The two suspects were sitting on a bench and she spoke to them, actually," said police spokesperson Renee Witt.
The woman told police she was walking near the lake's canoe shed when one man put a gun to her head and the other grabbed the money out of her pocket. The two men then walked away, she said.
Police believe those same armed men then robbed a man heading home on Latona Avenue NE.
"The suspects approached him and asked for his cell phone and cash, and punched him in the face. And when he fell, they began kicking him," said Witt.
The victim's screams prompted a neighbor to turn on a porch light, which scared off the suspects, Witt said. Police dogs couldn't track the pair's scent, but witnesses described the getaway car as a dark Honda sedan.
Police are working on a sketch of the two robbery suspects. Anyone with information on the robberies are urged to call 911 immediately.
"They're definitely dangerous and need to be captured and taken off the street," said Witt.
