More armed robberies around Green Lake area
SEATTLE -- Police are investigating two more armed robberies that occurred in the city overnight, and looking to see if they are connected to a string of five other robberies that have been taking place around the Green Lake and other Seattle neighborhoods.
The first incident Thursday night occurred just before 11:30 p.m. near North 65th Street and Green Lake Way N. Three men wearing dark sunglasses, one armed with a gun, robbed several different people at gunpoint.
Police aren't sure yet what all was stolen, and they haven't released any other details in those robberies.
About an hour later, two men walking down the street were approached by three men wearing bandanas and dark clothes in the 1700 block of Boylston Avenue East on Capitol Hill.
Again, one of the three men pulled out a gun and robbed the other two men, stealing wallets and a cell phone. No one was hurt.
The three men ran on foot are still on the loose.
Seattle officers say they believe the two incidents overnight are related due to similar suspect descriptions, but are still investigating whether they are tied to five other recent robberies around Green Lake and Seattle.
The first one occurred on Sept. 5 at 2200 NE 45th Street. Two days later, a group of four were robbed at gunpoint in the 12300 block of Roosevelt Way.
On Sept. 8, a woman was robbed near the canoe rental shed at Green Lake. The woman said one man put a gun to her head and the other grabbed the money out of her pocket.
After that, police believe those robbers hit a home on Latona Avenue NE, followed a day later by four more people robbed at gunpoint in the 2600 block of Magnolia Boulevard West.
But police caution while the descriptions of the robbers are similar, the circumstances differ. Some victims say they were robbed by two, three, or four guys and sometimes they have a weapon, or imply it, or there are no weapons.
"They are dangerous, and we want them in custody as soon as possible," said Det. Jeff Kappel.
So far, the worst injury has been a punch in the face. Police will be stepping up patrols in the area.
