Tacoma principal charged with rape pleads not guilty
TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - A Tacoma middle school principal pleaded not guilty to a rape charge today and was released by a Superior Court judge on his personal recognizance pending his trial.

35-year-old Harold Wright Junior appeared before Judge Sergio Armijo. Pierce County prosecutors asked Armijo to set bail at $10,000.

Wright is scheduled to be in court on March 6th for a pretrial hearing.

He is charged with one count of second-degree rape in an alleged attack on a 19-year-old woman at an after-hours party on January 31st, 2004.

Two other men are charged with second-degree rape in the case.

Wright is the principal of Baker Middle School who is a husband with three children. He is on administrative leave from his job pending the outcome of the case.

Wright has worked for the Tacoma School District for seven years, the last five as a principal.
