Citizens foil robbery of woman on Queen Anne
SEATTLE - Two citizens foiled the attempted robbery of an elderly woman Friday night on Queen Anne, police said.
Officers responded to the scene, near the Metropolitan Market, at about 10:25 p.m. after receiving a report of a man attacking a woman. When police arrived, however, the suspect was being held by citizens at the scene.
An investigation revealed that a man had approached the woman and yanked at her purse, knocking her to the ground as he yelled, "Give it up, lady."
Two good Samaritans happened to be driving by at that moment and saw the crime in progress. They stopped and grabbed the suspect, holding him until police arrived.
The suspect was placed under arrest and booked into King County jail for investigation of robbery.
The victim was not significantly injured.
