6 teens charged with escape from juvenile center

SEATTLE (AP) - Three of the six teens who escaped from the Echo Glen juvenile detention center could graduate to adult prison.
The King County prosecutor's office wants to try them as adults on assault charges in the attack that knocked a staff member unconscious.
A judge will be asked in two weeks to decide whether to move their cases out of juvenile court.
All six of the 14- and 15-year-olds also are charged with escape for the breakout Saturday near Snoqualmie. They were caught after a helicopter spotted them hiding in brush.
The three who are facing only the escape charge are due in juvenile court Thursday.

HEY KOMO! FIX YOUR VIDEO! First 15 seconds pertain to the related story. The rest is about the "Tacoma Snitchers" facebook sight. Which does save me from having to click on that now.

Nevermind KOMO- just killed 2 birds with 1 stone.
Our future, looking very bright huh?
Echo Glen is not juvenile detention, it is a PRISON for kids. You do no go there for taking a soda from the store. You go there, typically for multiple felonies. These kids, or "residents" as JRA calls them is part of the problem, they are inmates. They are incapable of being "rehabilitated". They are wanna-be thugs who think they are special. They are treated like kids, given Nintendo's in their rooms, chips, sodas, and babied. Do not agree, talk to someone who works or has worked for JRA.
Obviously Juvi helped them turn their lives around.  Lock em up in the big boy jail now.
Trying to read for content but the photo bomb is killing me.Â
Yeah! What's with the face??
First, what's up with that picture? Is that an officer making that goofy face?
Â
Secondly, I have learned over the past 5 years of dealing with the Juvenile court system that the prosecuting attorneys and probation can ask for tough time for a youth's crime, but it is ultimately up to the judge to make the call. It seems over these past 5 years of dealing with this, the judges seem to lean a little softer on punishment, always giving these kids "another chance".  My son, who's crimes are mostly graffiti related (lucky me), has been given more chances that any of us on here would ever get. What lesson does that teach? Had they thrown my son in JRA (juvenile prison) on the FIRST felony, I may not need to be on here talking about this. I am pretty disgusted in our court systems here in this state. AND, all treatment and mental facilities are all "VOLUNTARY" in this state, even to a child. Just a FYI! Â
@Eye4anEye My teenage son spent nearly a year in county juvenile detection a few weeks at a time over the span of about 5 years also. As like yours, his was vandalism type felonies but mostly probation violations. The court finally ordered him into in-patient treatment (twice). Eventually he grew up & has become a (mostly) responsible & productive young adult, working 5-6 days per week, 8-12 hrs per day.
Hang in there, hopefully your child also will figure it out & stop visiting with the courts. Good Luck!
It would be interesting to know more about the character in the photo. Hey KOMO, any clues?
@Surveyor1 It's a confusing picture. I "think" it's an escapee being cuffed... but yeah, it needs clarification. There's no photo credit, and the story byline is just AP... so nobody's bothering to take personal responsibility for this story or pic. It would be nice if someone stepped up and answered this question, after all, stories are supposed to clear confusion, not create it.
Ugly SOB.
this is a no brainer, of course they go to adult court. They had their chance as juveniles and blew it.
Another photo fail for Komo.
@NorthwestEconomist At least they haven't resorted to clip art.
What's with that photo, there is a guy making a duh face but he's not in the back seat of either patrol car. Looks photo shopped, unless there is a cop pushing his dump ass into the glass in between the cars lol just kinda funny.
Â
I think it is the officer in the driver's seat of the other car. Looks like he photobombed it. Too funny.
It must be one of the little darlings in another car. Their parents (if he has 2) must be proud.
Send them to McNeil Island and let them play survivor.
@TH3WOLFE I didn't even see that until I read your comment, That is too damn funny!
Moving on up.
