Car hits pedestrian in marked crosswalk
SEATTLE - A pedestrian was critically injured Friday night when he was hit by a car while walking in a marked crosswalk on 14th Avenue South.

Officers responded to the scene, at the intersection of 14th Ave South and South Washington Street, at about 7:30 p.m.

Investigators said the pedestrian, a man in his late 50s or early 60s, was crossing the street when he was struck by a white Toyota Corolla heading north on 14th Street.

The impact threw the pedestrian onto the concrete landing in the bicycle lane on the east side of the street.

Seattle Fire Department medics responded to the scene and rushed the victim to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 74-year-old man, was investigated and released at the scene, pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.
