Teen hit by car while walking on highway

EDGEWOOD, Wash. - A 14-year-old boy was walking in the roadway when he was hit by a car Saturday night on Highway 161 in south King County.

State troopers were called to the scene, on Highway 161 near the intersection with Interstate 5, at about 11:40 p.m. The boy was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of his injuries.

Investigators said the boy was in the roadway when he was hit by a 2004 Chrysler two-door driven by a 44-year-old Milton man. The driver was not injured.

Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the accident, troopers said.

The accident remains under investigation.
