Autistic boy, 11, dies after truck hits him
TUKWILA, Wash. - An 11-year-old autistic boy who was hit by a truck on the highway Saturday has died of his injuries, the Washington State Patrol says.
The boy, Devine Justice Farrier, died Sunday afternoon at Harborview Medical Center.
Devine's family called to report him missing Saturday afternoon, and shortly afterward the State Patrol got a call that a juvenile had run into the traffic lanes of northbound Highway 599.
The boy was hit by a landscaping truck on northbound Highway 599 near Tukwila International Boulevard as troopers were responding to the area.
Medics arrived at the scene immediately after the accident and rushed the boy to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening injuries. He remained in critical condition until his death.
The driver of the vehicle is not at fault in the accident, troopers said.
