Woman turns tables on would-be burglar

SEATTLE -- Police officers rushing to the scene of a burglary Tuesday morning found the one who needed saving was the would-be crook.

According to police, the incident began when the man tried to break into a woman's apartment in the 7400 block of Rainier Avenue South about 2 a.m.

Police said he tried to get in with a key but, when it wouldn't open, eventually kicked in the door.

When he stepped inside, the woman, who police said feared for her life, stabbed the man in the shoulder.

The man ran off, but the woman didn't want to let him get away.

She chased him down the street until officers arrived and, in their words, "rescued the suspect from the victim."

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center to be treated for the knife wound, and he was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary.

The woman was not injured.
