Cougar spotted in Tacoma's south end

TACOMA, Wash. -- A cougar was spotted lurking around the city's south end on Wednesday night.

Det. Mark Fulghum said an area resident saw the cougar on the roof of his house in the 7200 block of South G Street around 7 p.m.

The cougar had fled by the time officers arrived on the scene. The animal was last seen headed north across 72nd Street.

Officers, with the help of a state game agent, searched the area, but only found large paw prints the cougar had left behind.

Police have received no other reports of cougar sightings since.

Anyone who sees the cougar is urged to call 911 immediately.
