BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. -- A 14-year-old Woodward Middle School student is in police custody, accused of attacking two teens at Bainbridge High School Monday.

Police were called to the high school around 3:22 p.m. for reports of an attack in progress. Witnesses said the 14-year-old approached a 17-year-old Bainbridge student, verbally challenged him, and then swung a small folding knife at him, cutting the 17-year-old in the upper arm.

The attacker then confronted another student and swung the knife several times, but didn't injure him, witnesses said.

The second victim told the attacker to put down the knife, and when he did, the victim tackled the attacker, but he was able to break free and run.

He didn't get far as officers arrived a short time later and arrested the 14-year-old for investigation of first degree assault and assault with a deadly weapon. He's being held at the Kitsap County Juvenile Detention Center.

The 17-year-old received treatment for a cut shoulder and was released to his family.
