Search on for missing hiker in Mt. Loop Highway area
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. -- The search is on for a hiker who did not return home on Monday from a week-long camping and hiking trip.
Lt. Jeff Brand said the 59-year-old Seattle man had told his girlfriend he would be spending a week in the Mt. Loop Highway area. When he did not come home as planned on Monday, the woman alerted authorities.
On Tuesday search and rescue crews began combing the area and found the man's car near Highway 530 in the French Creek, about 40 miles east of Arlington.
Crews searched on foot and in the air, but have not found any signs of the missing hiker. The search is ongoing.
Brand said the missing hiker is experienced and well-equipped.
