Suspect in crossbow attack arrested
PE ELL, Wash. - A Lewis County man suspected of shooting another man with a crossbow has turned himself in, ending a two-day manhunt for him, officials said.
Lehman Neil Delavergne, 33, of Pe Ell, voluntarily turned himself in to Lewis County deputies at a home in the Pe Ell area at about 10 a.m. Friday.
He was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for investigation of first-degree attempted murder.
Deputies had been searching for Delavergne since Wednesday night, when a 26-year-old man was shot with a crossbow, then stabbed several times.
Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Stacy Brown said investigators believe Delavergne hid outside the victim's house, in the 100 block of Katula Road, and shot him when he walked by just after 8 p.m.
The victim was then stabbed him multiple times in the torso during an altercation that followed the crossbow attack.
The victim had severe head and chest injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. As of Friday, he is in stable condition.
It was not clear exactly what prompted the attack, but Brown said Delavergne knew the victim.
Delavergne ran off and remained at large while detectives hunted him down and asked for the public's help in locating him.
Lewis County deputies eventually were able to negotiate Delavergne's voluntary surrender, and he turned himself in without incident Friday morning.
