The fugitive mother who took her baby on the run triggering an amber alert is back in Washington saate. And so is her baby, Serenity Withrow. Becky Forrester was escorted back from Wyoming by detectives while her baby girl was brought back separately. We're told the newborn is in good condition.

We've learned that had police not caught up with the mom and her traveling partner in Wyoming they would have gone all the way to South Carolina to go into hiding.

That is because Forrester had already lost custody of three of her kids and didn't want that to happened again.

Forrester came to court on Wednesday with her head down low. But her friends say she holds her head high when it comes to taking care of her baby girl, Serenity, who born just last March 1st.

"I was there, I've seen the baby, said Forrester's friend, Stephanie Sullivan. "I've got to be with the baby and Becky and Becky is an awesome mom."

Police paint a different picture of Forrester saying she'd failed two drug tests and the state wanted the child put in foster care temporarily. But before police could get to her Poulsbo house Forrester and an 18-year-old friend took off, heading east and triggering the Amber Alert.

The FBI tracked phone calls and money that was being wired to Forrester. They were caught in Cheyenne, Wyoming Saturday night.

"The baby is home safe. The young lady in there will hopefully get the treatment she needs and the help she needs," said Kitsap County Sheriff Steve Boyer. "And the Amber Alert system worked exactly how it was intended."

Detectives believe Forrester was heading to a friend's house to hide out in South Carolina.

"It's very very difficult. It's very difficult as a mother myself," said Forrester's mother, Evelyn Withrow.

But Withrow says she doesn't support her daughter's actions.

"I do not support anybody breaking the law, I'm sorry," she said.

On Wednesday in juvenile court the court commissioner was willing to set up visitation rights for Forrester, but that will have to wait since the mom has a no-contact order with her child.

The alleged accomplice, her traveling partner Nicole Duke, was originally let go by Cheyenne police. The Kitsap County detectives caught up with her when she came back home and arrested her on rendering criminal assistance.

Forrester is in jail on $100,000 bail and her baby is in protective foster care.
