Two mudslides blocking Chuckanut Drive
BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Two mudslides are blocking both lanes of State Route 11, also known as Chuckanut Drive.
One slide occurred three miles south of the Whatcom-Skagit County line, and the other is seven miles north of that near Spokane Street.
Drivers are being detoured to the Interurban Trail, a pedestrian trail, for local and emergency access.
Transportation officials said engineers must assess the hillside above the slides, and crews must clear debris off the roadway before the road can be reopened. An estimate was not given.
