Two shot dead, third injured in apparent murder-suicide in Oregon

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- Two people were found dead and a third was serious injured in a shooting near the edge of a college campus in Forest Grove Friday night.

Police responded to the corner of 21st Avenue and Cedar Street in Forest Grove, which borders the Pacific University campus.

Police found the bodies of a man and a woman who had died in an apparent suicide. Police said the man appeared to be the gunman.

Detectives said they've found evidence that indicates the gunman broke into a nearby home. They believe he shot two people at the home with a .357 Magnum, then turned the gun on himself.

The relationship relationship between the two fatal victims was not known.

The third person's involvement in the shooting was not immediately clear. The victim's name and condition were not immediately available.

A spokesperson for Pacific University said at this time, school officials have no reason to believe that the shooting had any connection to the school.

"We are aware of the situation and are staying in contact with police," said Joe Lang, director of public relations.
