Missing 7-year-old boy found safe
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. - A 7-year-old Kitsap County boy missing since Saturday afternoon has been found safe at a friend's house.
The missing boy, Lucas Grant Sampson, was last seen at about 4 p.m. Saturday at his home, at 3534 Harris Road SE, Port Orchard. The boy's father had taken a nap, and when he woke up, Lucas was gone.
The boy's family later contacted authorities, and a search-and-rescue mission was launched, involving three dog teams and 41 volunteers. Officials were especially concerned because of low overnight temperatures in the area.
At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities located the boy at a residence on SE Lincoln Avenue, about three-quarters of a mile from his home.
The boy apparently went there without telling his parents where he was going.
A Kitsap County sheriff's spokesman said the child is well and did not spend the night outside in the elements. The search mission has been terminated.
