OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A Tacoma couple who won $100,000 in the state's Hit 5 lottery say the money will allow them to go through with plans to adopt a second child.

After taxes, Roy and Charice Pidcock will take home about $75,000.

Before their lucky win, they worried they might not be able to afford the adoption.

"We had just talked about the possibility of dropping out of the process," Roy said about their plans before winning. "I couldn't wait to tell her, because I knew what it would mean."

This will be the Pidcocks' second child. They adopted their daughter, Tia, from China five years ago.

If all goes well, the couple should be able to pick up their second daughter in China next year.

"When he took me to lunch, gave me the news I was in absolute disbelief," said Charice. "I thought he was joking with me at first. Then he showed me the copy of the winning ticket and started crying."

Charice and Roy both work for the state, and Roy said he's been buying lottery tickets for a long time.

He said he believes this win was meant to be.
