FEDERAL WAY - A thief at the Wild Waves Water Park broke into a family's parked van and stole a stash of irreplaceable items.
Kristen Strauss can live without the stolen purses, credit cards, makeup and cash. She can even forget about the the breast pump and digital camera taken from her family's van.
It's the home videos that hurt the most.
"Just a pit in my stomach," she said.
The seven cassettes hold cherished footage of their seven children. They document happy, healtier days before cancer spread through 11-year-old Gloria's bones and into her liver.
"My shoulder hurts," Gloria said.
Doctors say Gloria might not survive the summer. But she's proven them wrong before.
"The odds aren't in our favor want precious video they've taken because they don't know what the future is," Kristen said.
Today, her pain is more intense. Medicinal patches and prayers from around the world help her cope.
There were just two videos left that weren't stolen. They contain priceless memories that Gloria's family lives for.
"If the videos don't come back, I won't be happy. But that means there's a reason, that we have to go on and can hopefully make new ones," Gloria said. "But you can't do the same things again. You can't be three again."
It doesn't take a home video to remember the power of the little girl.
Police have a few leads on the thief, including photos of a suspicious Honda and a woman using a stolen credit cared at the Fred Meyer store in Federal Way.
The Strauss family is asking for the thief to return the videos to the Saint Vincent De Paul Parish in Federal Way, no questions asked.
