'We've more than doubled our children'
SEA-TAC AIRPORT -- Chris Brady and his wife, Kristen, have been waiting years to be able to welcome their adopted sons to their new home in the Northwest. That moment finally came on Monday night.
"Best thing in the world. End of a long journey," said Chris Brady.
It's been a highway of surprises for the family.
"It leads where it leads. I'm just driving on it," Chris Brady said.
Chris Brady flew to Miami nearly two weeks ago to pick up his adopted sons. There were problems and headaches once he got there. But those hurdles are finally behind him, and the family is now home.
Everywhere they go now, people congratulate and offer a warm welcome.
Little Isaiah likes to say, "Bye bye." His 3-year old twin brother, Titus, is relatively quiet.
The odd thing is without the devastating earthquake that destroyed their orphanage, it would have taken another two years before their adoptions would have gone through.
"It's a bunch of small miracles that led up to couple of big miracles. God had his hand it. Everything happens for a reason, and the reason for me is that my kids are home," Chris Brady said.
Isaiah and Titus will join the Bradys' two biological children as well as Annabelle, another 3-year-old Haitian orphan who arrived at her new home just four days ago.
"She's actually adjusting really well," said Kristen Brady. "It's really nice having other kids in the home, because they're so used to having other kids around all the time. That's their whole life -- lots of kids."
There will be plenty to learn as they get acclimated to an American life, and not just for the kids.
"They don't know English, but we know toddler Creole," said Kristen Brady. "So we've got enough words to get by. They catch on so fast. It only takes them a couple of days."
"We've more than doubled our children," Chris Brady said. "Nothing better than being a dad."
One of the first things they might do as a family: go check out snow, which Isaiah, Titus and Annabelle have never seen or touched.
