Road-rage driver sends father, infant to hospital

CENTRALIA, Wash. -- What began as an argument between two drivers ended with one of the drivers and his infant child going to the hospital, according to police.

Police said the two drivers were involved in a crash on South Gold Street around 2:10 p.m. on Saturday. One of the drivers then got out of the car and started yelling at the other driver, kicking the other's car and even threatening to shoot.

The second driver, who had his 8-month-old child in the car, tried to get away from the victim and ran a red light. The threatening driver began pursuit, traveling south on South Gold Street.

Police said the two drivers were seen ramming each other's cars.

The chase finally ended when the fleeing driver either lost control or was forced off the road and hit a light pole in the 1600 block of South Gold.

Both the driver who was being chased and the infant were taken to the hospital. They have been treated and released.

Police later found the threatening driver's car at a home on Delaware Street and obtained a search warrant. They arrested Crystal L. Green, 22, of Tacoma and Esteban A. Vasquez III, 23, of Centralia for 2nd degree assault and reckless endangerment. The two have been booked into the Lewis County Jail.
