Customs agents nab shipment of machine guns in Tacoma

TACOMA -- U.S. Customs agents nabbed a shipment of machine guns that had come into the Port of Tacoma from Taiwan.
The shipment, manifested only as "Toys and Parts" was inspected and inspectors found 30 M-4 automatic rifles, similar to what is used in the U.S. military. The rifles had no serial number on them nor an orange tip to signify it was a toy.
Further inspection by Alcohol, Firearm and Tobacco agents concluded the guns in their current format were designed to shoot plastic balls, but by replacing a few internal components with machine gun components, the guns would be able to fire live ammunition.
The guns are destined to be destroyed.
