3 seriously hurt when car falls off enbankment near Auburn

NEAR AUBURN, Wash. -- Three people were seriously injured when a car went off of an embankment near Auburn late Tuesday afternoon.

Auburn Fire spokesperson Kimberly McDonald said a witness walked into the fire station and reported the accident at approximately 5:52 p.m.

Medics responded to the location in the 5200 block of Kersey Way SE and found a car some 20 feet down an embankment on its side.

The car's three passengers - a man and two women - were taken to Harborview Medical Center, one by airlift. All three victims sustained multiple injuries and were said to be in serious condition.

The cause of the crash has not been determined; however, investigators said they detected the scent of alcohol inside the car. The man who was driving the car has been given a breathalyzer test; however, its findings were not immediately known.

Detectives do not believe another car was involved in the crash.
