Teen may face adult attempted murder charges in iPod attack
SEATTLE - A teenager is facing charges of attempted robbery and attempted murder over what King County Sheriff's deputies say was play for an iPod.

The soon-to-be high school senior stood before a juvenile court judge Tuesday, but he might stand before a judge in adult court soon enough.

Police say the teen attacked and stabbed a 48-year-old man in an attempted robbery of his iPod. The victim was out walking around 1:30 a.m. when he was stabbed in the back.

The man was able to run home, still holding his iPod, and call 911. Police say the attacker went to go get an accomplice, and when he returned, deputies were waiting for them and they were arrested.

"This was a completely unprovoked attack, on an innocent individual," Samantha Kanner, the deputy prosecuting attorney handling the juvenile case, told a judge Tuesday.

The teen is being held on suspicion of attempted murder, and attempted robbery. The teen just finished his junior year in high school. The judge ruled the teen would remain in custody.

Prosecutors will now decide if he'll face adult charges for nearly killing a man for a $150 item.

Another teen was originally arrested as an accomplice. He was released from custody with not enough evidence to hold him. Deputies are still continuing their investigation.

Meanwhile, the victim is still recovering at Harborview Medical Center, where he was upgraded to satisfactory condition Tuesday.
