Dad busted for heroin deal as young daughter waited in car
WEST LINN, Ore. - A man was arrested after he was caught dealing heroin Thursday while his toddler daughter waited in his car, police say.
The incident took place after police in West Linn, Ore., received a tip from a concerned citizen who reported a suspicious vehicle in a residential area.
Shortly after the tip, an investigation was started by police and a special team conducting an ongoing heroin investigation in the area.
As investigators watched, a previously deported alien, Edgar Antonio Mendozaortega, 31, arrived at an Albertson's parking lot with the intent to deliver 4.5 grams of heroin, police said.
He was accompanied in his vehicle by his 22-month-old daughter, police said.
Mendozaortega was arrested and booked in the Clackamas County Jail for investigation of distribution of heroin, possession of heroin and child neglect.
He was held without bail on an immigration hold.
The 22-month-old daughter was initially taken into protective custody, but was later released to two responsible family members.
