Motorcyclist killed after dumping bike in intersection
WOODINVILLE, Wash. - A 68-year-old Mercer Island man was killed Friday morning when he dumped his motorcycle in an intersection and apparently slid into another vehicle.

Deputies were called to the scene, at the intersection of NE 195th Street and Woodinville-Snohomish Road NE, just before 9 a.m. Friday.

Investigators determined that a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 650 was heading east on NE 195th, and the motorcyclist was turning left onto northbound Woodinville-Snohomish Road, crossing the intersection.

At the same time, a 2004 Jeep Liberty was heading west on NE North Woodinville Way, also crossing the intersection.

It appears the motorcycle went down and the rider slid into the Jeep Liberty, hitting his head, said Sgt. John Urquhart of the King County Sheriff's Office.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

Urquhart said there is no indication that the motorcycle actually collided with the Jeep, which was being driven by a 17-year-old Woodinville boy.

The investigation is continuing.
