WSP: Yelm man arrested after crashing into motorcycle
YELM, Wash. - A 26-year-old Yelm man was arrested after he crashed his Dodge Ram pickup into a motorcycle, seriously injuring the 46-year-old motorcyclist, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Troopers and medics were called to the scene, at the intersection of Vail Road and Hannus Road, on Friday.
An investigation found that Steven P. Wetzel of Yelm was following behind a 1997 Harley-Davidson motorcycle as he headed north on Vail Road.
The motorcyclist, James J. Stilton of Yelm, slowed down to make a left turn onto Hannus Road from Vail Road. Wetzel failed to stop and his pickup slammed into the motorcycle from behind, troopers said.
The motorcyclist, James J. Stilton of Yelm, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.
Wetzel was booked into Thurston County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault and a blood sample was taken from him, the State Patrol said.
