9-year-old boy rescued from Pilchuck River, airlifted to hospital

SNOHOMISH, Wash. - A 9-year-old boy was rescued from the Pilchuck River and airlifted to the hospital Friday afternoon as anxious relatives waited to learn more about his condition.
The incident unfolded about 2 p.m. as the boy was playing along the river in the 12700 block of Dubuque Road, said Shari L. Ireton of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
The boy's mother called 911 after the boy went under water and did not come back up to the surface.
Family members and bystanders began searching for the boy while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive. A bystander found the boy and pulled him to the river bank.
Family members began to administer CPR and medics took over as he was airlifted to Children's Hospital for treatment.
The boy’s condition is unknown, Ireton said.
