Alcohol suspected in deadly I-5 crash
SEATTLE -- A suspected drunk driver caused a crash early Monday that killed his passenger and injured a construction worker on Interstate 5.
State troopers said the driver was southbound on I-5 just after midnight when he lost control of his car and slammed into the back of a truck that was parked at a Department of Transportation construction site near the interchange with I-90.
A 25-year-old man who was in the passenger seat of the car died at the scene. A member of the construction crew who was in the truck was taken to Harborview Medical Center to be checked out for minor injuries.
The 23-year-old man who was driving the car was also taken to Harborview and is expected to be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of involuntary manslaughter when he's released from the hospital.
The name of the man who was killed has not been released.
