Boy locked in trunk injured in crash
BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) – A boy locked in the trunk of a speeding car was injured when it ran off a road and crashed near Bellingham early Sunday.
Police say there were seven people in the Honda Civic – five wearing seat belts, one lying across the laps of the people in the back seat, and the boy in the trunk.
Whatcom County Sheriff's Sergeant Larry Flynn says after the crash the five who were wearing seat belts ran off.
The unbelted man and the boy in the trunk were taken to St. Joseph Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Flynn told The Bellingham Herald investigators have identified the driver and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
