PUYALLUP, Wash. -- A high speed police chase ended in a crash Thursday morning in the outskirts of this Pierce County city.

Lakewood police officers found a man in a stolen Nissan 300 just after 4:30 around 34th Ave. S. and 86th Street S. in Lakewood, according to Tacoma police officials, who aided in the incident.

The suspected car thief took sped away and a high-speed chase ensued until the Nissan T-boned a pickup truck in the intersection of Canyon Road and 72nd Street E near Puyallup.

The driver of the stolen car was ejected from the car and taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Tacoma police said. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured but was also taken to a hospital to be checked out.

After the crash, investigating officers found a gun at the scene.

Lakewood police said the alleged car thief was a convicted felon with several previous arrests. He will be taken into custody as soon as he is released from the hospital.

And it turns out the driver of the truck had outstanding warrants for his arrest and was driving with a suspended license. He too will be arrested when released from the hospital, investigators said.
