WSP: Drowsy driver leads to fatal crash near Moses Lake
MOSES LAKE, Wash. -- A 37-year-old man was killed after his wife fell asleep at the wheel of their minivan and crashed off I-90 Saturday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol. The wife and their two young sons inside were seriously injured.
Troopers say the family was heading east around 2:55 p.m. when the driver fell asleep about 6 1/2 miles east of Moses Lake. As the van drifted to the right, she awoke and overcorrected, sending the car back across the eastbound lanes and the van rolled over, striking a DOT fence, troopers said.
The crash killed her husband, who troopers identified as Robert Goodwin of Silverdale. His 36-year-old wife was rushed to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. The two sons, ages 7 and 2, suffered injuries that required transportation to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.
