CLARK COUNTY, Wash.- A Clark County mother pleaded guilty Wednesday to killing her 20-month-old son, Bryce, last year.

Kelly Meining says she stabbed the boy to death because she believed other people were going to kill him.

Meining suffers from bipolar disorder, but told the judge she does not want to pursue a mental health defense.

She faces 20 to 26 years in prison.

According to police, Meining told them she used a large kitchen knife to stab her son in the stomach and back.

The toddler died despite medics' attempts to save him.

Meining has said she was suicidal since she was a teenager and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2004.
