Accused attacker of homeless man pleads not guilty
SEATTLE -- One of three men accused in a brutal beating of a homeless man in Pioneer Square pleaded not guilty Wednesday.
Abdirizak Mohammed walked into court wearing his bright orange jail jumpsuit and didn't say a word.
Mohammed pleaded not guilty to second degree assault in connection with the July 2 attack on Yesler Way. Investigators say the 19-year-old and his 15- and 17-year-old friends used a broken bottle to cut the victim on his face and neck while he slept in Pioneer Square.
The victim's injuries were not life-threatening.
Mohammed is being held on $20,000 bail and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 28.
Meanwhile, the other 2 suspects are being charged in juvenile court.
