Aberdeen couple win $3.6 million Wash. lottery
ABERDEEN, Wash. (AP) - An Aberdeen couple has won a $3.6 million Washington lottery jackpot.
KXRO radio reports Roger and Darla Sauer bought the winning ticket over the weekend.
Darla says they have bought a ticket with the same numbers every week since the state started the game in 1984.
The couple has been married since 1974. Roger is a high school English teacher and Darla is an active volunteer.
The couple says they have no immediately plans about how to spend the money although they do have some charities they plan to support in a more generous way.

I just wonder if they still remember me after they won that Lotto !?
Good for them!! If they take the entire $3.6 million, I believe that is spread out over the next 20 years. If they take one lump sum of cash, then they get half, or $1.8 million. THEN, 25% income tax is taken out of the money before they see a dime of it. It's still a lot of money...but it's a shame winners aren't able to claim the entire jackpot in one lump sum.
uncle roger sunny here!

how you been!
Â
it's been a while. Â what's that 10 years you say? Â we sure have a lot to catch up on then!
And now the state is wringing their hands at all the taxes that they are going to impose on this couple. Too bad that they won't see most of that money. Our stupid political partners made sure of that.
Only took them 27 years to win.... and I'm figuring around 1400 to 1500 $ total, if hey only bought 1 ticket a week for 28 years. Congrats, hope it doesn't cause problems in their family.
@Elaine2 If I was them, I'd be worried about the mooches that spring out the woodwork with sob stories of needing money. Kudos to those who collect their lottery winnings anonymously.
@Just_Mike  @Elaine2 WA state wouldn't let them collect anonymously, they wont be giving any money to anyone except themselves and the charities they have already given to. They are amazing people and honestly couldn't have happened to better people, very well deserving of this!Â
@black diamond yes, I understand because the lottery is public money, the public has to know who won. glad you are telling us what a great couple they are - :) Finally, someone one it who wasn't a millionare already!
@Tattooed_Angel  @black I wanted them to be anonymous too I am related to them and as well concerned about "family/friends" that will come from the woodwork but I know that wont happen, this couple is truly amazing, they give so much to others without asking for anything in return. They are very active in charity work with the American Cancer Society as well as the community. They give all they can to their kids and grandkids and really even more than they can, they are very very very nice and sweet people and truly deserve this money.Â
@Tattooed_Angel  @black If I was them I'd more worried about the number of so called family members they suddenly get along with the sob stories they are going to be getting in the next few weeks.
@black diamond That's wrong. People should be able to claim anonymously. I know if I ever won a large sum of money, I sure as heck wouldn't want anyone to know!

Awesome story! Congratulations Roger and Darla!
