Accused Chelan teacher paid to quit
CHELAN, Wash. (AP) - The Lake Chelan School District is giving a Chelan teacher a year's salary to leave.
The teacher already has been on paid leave since March of 2011 when parents accused him of touching their son inappropriately. He was fired in October and appealed.
With the settlement he withdraws his appeal without admitting any wrongdoing.
The Wenatchee World reports he can continue to teach. He was not arrested. The Chelan County prosecutor's office is still reviewing the case.
Superintendent Rob Manahan did not disclose the amount of the settlement but says it will save the district more than $100,000 in legal fees and paid leave.
