Alleged shoplifter arrested wearing cherry-tomato bikini

SEATTLE -- A chronic shoplifter in a wheelchair was arrested at a Capitol Hill QFC last Friday with only a pile of cherry tomatoes covering his crotch, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Officers were called to the store in the 1400 block of Broadway shortly after 6:20 a.m. for reports of a man causing a disturbance inside.

Officers found the suspect in the produce aisle, where he was sitting in his wheelchair eating from a container of cherry tomatoes, according to the police report for the incident.

According to the report, the cherry tomatoes were strewn about the floor, which is where the man's pants were also located. The only thing covering the man's crotch were spilled tomatoes, according to the report.

The man was arrested and transported to King County Jail for investigation of burglary. The only thing found on him during a search was most of a still-frozen Jimmy Dean sausage sandwich.

Officers have had many previous run-ins with the man, who was previously trespassed from the Broadway QFC for allegedly stealing two bottles of vodka March 31.

During that arrest, the man made numerous off-color comments to officers and was concealing narcotics and a pipe, according to the police report for that incident.

During his April 12 arrest, the man told officers he knew he was not allowed in the store and came in anyway with the intent to commit a crime, according to the report.
