Woman killed by hit-and-run driver in Forks
FORKS, Wash. -- A young woman was killed when she was hit by a pickup truck while she was walking along a road in Forks on Monday night.
The Washington State Patrol says 25-year-old Amanda Louise Lagambina was hit by the oncoming truck just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of Leppell Road and Calawah Way.
The truck dragged Lagambina more than 80 feet from where she was hit, and then the driver left the scene, according to officials.
Lagambina was taken to Forks Community Hospital where she later died.
Troopers say the driver of the truck, identified as 19-year-old Garrid J. Larson, was eventually located and booked into the Clallam County Jail.

Rest in peace young lady.
When i saw the headline my first thought was "Wonder if my dad did that"? It wasn't him, but the guy IS hateful enough to have done so.Â
Terrible this happened, and for the family I feel terrible for the family's loss. Garrid,if convicted of this, has a very long life ahead of him to think about all of this.Â
How horrible. Peace to the friends and family of this young woman.
sad RIP
RIP Amanda Lagambina and my condolences to her family. I'm glad they caught the person that did it.Â
Wow- that's quite a visual description of what happened. For the sake of the victim's family, wish they didn't have to supply so much information. Â
Sad especially considering she was doing the right thing and walking against the flow of traffic.Â
at least the driver is sitting in jail. The one who killed my aunt in north bend on new years is still at large. hit n run is awful for a family to deal with, heck a death period is unimaginable. I know what that family is going through and it hurts more that you can ever imagine!
RIP Aunt Lucinda P some day soon justice will be on your side until then...RIP
@Katie Gaston I hope they find the person that killed your aunt. Peace be with you and your family.
Most likely, he was drinking.. and hit her because of his impairment.. Which also lead to his poor decision to leave her on the side of the road. But, he is probably a good young man, he made a mistake.. yada yada yada.. The only mistake Amanda made, was walking along the side of the road...
I feel bad for the Amanda's family. I am sure they will miss her. James needs to be reminded of what he did, every day he is incarcerated for this crime.. Sorry is just a word, until you put actions behind it. How can he show he is truly sorry? By accepting responsibility, and pleading guilty to the charges that will be levied against him. I bet, he won't..
@Mr. H Please tell us why you are so sure he was drinking.Â
@Mr. HÂ there were no drugs or alcohol involved..............peninsuladailynews.com
I wonder why he left then? (Thanks for the info.)
Seriously, there's like four thousand people in the town. If you're a local and you do a hit-and-run, you stand a very poor chance of not being found out. So you just leave the woman to die on the side of the road like a dog and now you're facing way more serious charges than you would have if you'd stayed, called for help, and tried to give first aid if possible. You deserve whatever is coming to you, kid.
@spacegoddess According to the scanner he is the one who called 911 so I bet he was very scared! I second what boeman said.. Do not judge him untill you have all the facts!
@spacegoddess Ever been 19 YO and scared? Did you to the rational thing? Most don't.
@boeman
A little less than fifty years ago I was 19 and scared. There was this
thing called war(Vietnam)and our crew did the rational things requiredÂ
to survive.and did Many other of our military did the "rational thing",Â
but still never made it back.
The simple fact is that most of our youth did, and would do the "rationalÂ
thing" irrespective of the consequences. This young man did not.
@boeman @spacegoddess you still DONT RUN
I can understand the panic (fight or flight)...but to leave someone to die...or dead on the side of the road is unforgivable. I am not sure how this is much different from a second degree murder at the point you decide to flee the scene.
