Man pleads not guilty to attacking boy in store bathroom

KENT, Wash. -- A homeless man accused of attacking an 11-year-old boy in the restroom of a Burien grocery store pleaded not guilty Monday to an attempted rape charge.
Bail remains at $1 million for 32-year-old Andrew Dempsey until his next court appearance Oct. 25 in King County Superior Court in Kent.
Prosecutors say Dempsey was already inside the bathroom at a Burien Albertsons on Sept. 29 when the boy came in. After the boy left a bathroom stall, he said Dempsey -- who was a complete stranger -- grabbed him by the head and threatened to kill him.
Dempsey then put the boy in a headlock and began dragging him into a large bathroom stall, according to court documents. Dempsey, who was naked from the waist down, repeatedly told the boy he was going to kill him.
The boy broke away and ran to the door, but police say Dempsey was able to slam the bathroom door shut on the boy's hand before he could escape. A witness inside the store saw the boy's hand in the door and heard screams for help.
That man opened the bathroom door and saw Dempsey -- with his pants around his ankles -- holding the victim in a "bear hug."
Several store employees and witnesses confronted Dempsey and held him until police arrived.
Dempsey had a bag containing methamphetamine, according to investigators. He told police he had been homeless in Burien for several years and denied attacking the boy.

What my friend did was & is VERY VERY WRONG & i dont agree with it..... BUT PLEASE EVERYONE, im asking all of you DONT TALK BAD ABOUT HIM! NONE OF YOU KNOW HIM OR ANYTHING!..... thank you
What a POS! First off I DO NOT believe in anyone using meth!!!! But if you are going to do it find a private place, because you know you gonna get naked and do something STUPID!!! I do not know how many times i have seen people on the news walking or running around naked and it is because they are on meth, then to top every thing off they are quite violent. Sure wish this drug would be eradicated!!! But almost impossible the Mexican Cartels are seeing to that! Thank goodness he did not murder or rape this child, because he was obviously out of his mind and would have killed the boy! Hopefully the 11yr old can move on with his life with no long term affect on his mental well being.
Next time if anyone sees anything like this happening please kick the crap out of the perp before you call the cops!!!
Â
wow lock him up and chop off his member. arrrrrr
this POS is not real bright is he? how would you possibly plead "not guilty" here?
Â
ok ok not all homeless are scummy bums looking to rape kids, but enough of them are for my taste. another POS for the taxpayers to house now. great.
@SwampThing Yes agreed, and probably those bums we call football coaches and priests who are also looking to rape kids.
There is a reason these guys are homeless: Â LSD, drugs, Â heavy booze and liquor. Â Needless to say, Â they should cut off his penis and put him in jail for the rest of his life.
@HullenbeckCowl ....and, mental illness.
@HullenbeckCowl ...make sure the wire is rusty. I'm sure his tetanus shot(s) are not current.
Make sure he's numb first...about a dozen tazer shots to the testes should suffice nicely.
Lets hope if he's convicted he never sees the light of day again.
"Dempsey had a bag containing methamphetamine, according to investigators. He told police he had been homeless in Burien for several years and denied attacking the boy." Yeah, good luck with that not guilty plea there pal. Obviously listening to his sleazebag lawyer.
I have admiration for the father of this boy, because whether he was being held down or not, I'd have repeatedly kicked this man in the face for attacking my son, of course right after breaking his fingers for having the audacity to slam his hand in the door.Â
meth is more important than a home
this is a vicious and very dangerous freak, should not see the light of day again
"After police arrived and arrested Dempsey, he told them he had been homeless in Burien for several years..."
Â
And yet another sad and telling incident that proves the absolute necessity of removing "the homeless" from their interfering with the public safety and tranquility, and putting them into proper secure facilities; either mental, drug/alcohol treatment, or workhouses, until such time as they have proven they are able, fit, and willing to live like civilized humans in society while being productive citizens like the rest of us.
Oh, are we calling them homeless now? I thought that the correct term was "transient."
@caphillkid I thought it was "bum".
Â
If I were this child's mother that monster would have never made it to jail to plead ânot guiltyâ. Iâd chase that vile S.O.B. into the afterlife and make sure he NEVER EVER hurt another child again.
