Armed man robs Smokey Pt. bank, threatens to shoot tellers

ARLINGTON, Wash. - Police are investigating after a robber armed with a large pistol held up an Arlington bank Saturday and repeatedly threatened to shoot the tellers.
The incident unfolded at about 11:35 a.m. Saturday when the suspect walked into the Key Bank branch in the 17300 block of Smokey Point Drive, aimed a handgun at tellers and demanded money.
The suspect then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Arlington police officers, Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies and Stillaguamish Tribal police arrived within three minutes of the 911 call. A Lynnwood police K-9 police dog also responded and attempted to track down the suspect without success.
The robber is described as a male about 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-9-inches in height, with a slender build. He was wearing a light blue or gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, blue jeans with light fading on the front and yellow stitching on the back pockets, and dark or black colored shoes.
The robber also was wearing a black ski mask, scarf or cloth over his face with only the eyes cut out. One witness described the suspect’s skin around his eyes as being light in color and the suspect was wearing black gloves and carrying a black backpack.
The suspect’s weapon was described as a large frame pistol. The suspect was described as speaking in short, clipped sentences, described as possibly being of an Asian accent.
Surveillance footage from surrounding businesses show a man matching the suspect’s description arriving in the area about 30 minutes before the robbery on a bicycle. The suspect was seen riding around to familiarize himself with the area before committing the robbery.
Surveillance video also showed the suspect fleeing the scene toward the north on the bicycle immediately after the robbery.
Anyone with information or who can identify the suspect is asked to contact the Arlington Police Department at (360) 403-3400.

Seems like a lot of that going on. Would love to see the Police catching these people in the act and taking care of business for the taxpayers.Â
Is it "rob a bank" week or what?
That's a woman!! Look at the legs!
@Longhairedvixen cross dressers!
A new Key Bank in the Wedgwood neighborhood was robbed yesterday afternoon, Friday, Sept. 7.  This robbery caused considerable disruption in the neighborhood, and local schools went in to lockdown mode, retaining students after normal dismissal time. However, I have seen no reports on this robbery here in Seattle. Could these robberies be the work of one robber? Why is a robbery relatively far from Seattle being carefully reported while a robbery within the city of Seattle is ignored by the media?
@Mary Probably because Wedgwood and Lake City are held up all the time.  I agree it should have been covered.  If the robbery in Wedgwood wasn't a hostile takeover, it likely wouldn't make news.  My father investigated bank robberies for over 25 years.  I remember that the majority of his calls were in the Seattle suburbs... tons in Madison Park back in the "Hollywood" bank robbery days.
Look for him at the nearest PaiGow table at the closest casino.
Dear all the greedy banks. Â You're the cause of the our current economy in the first place. Â Not only that but also you've been robbing customers with all kinds of crazy fees and interest rates. Â It's time to give some back to the society. Â Let them have some! Â
@Drunken Fists Spoken like a true Marxist. What do you want them to do? Dump the money on the street?
Btw, I don't condone any crime, but when the economy is this bad, you should have expected these kinds of crimes would rise.
When are banks going to realize that it would be a good investment to hire a security guard. My bank has one and it hasn't been hit yet, although other ones around it has.
@Tattooed_Angel I agree..don't see them robbing to many Bank of America's due to their guards and thick protective barriers protecting the tellers.
@Tattooed_Angel unfortunately, having an armed guard increases the risk of a hostile takeover with hostages incredibly!  Bandit barriers sometime work but I'm pretty sure that the places hit the most already have them.  The average bank robber is a total moron so it's hard to predict what exactly will deter him/ her
There was a bank robbed up here in Mount Vernon yesterday by a guy who rode away on a BMX bike...looks like he is traveling south!
@LMcK4Him The same Banner bank in Bellingham has been held up twice in the past few weeks by a bicycle riding bandit. Hum!
@truthteller @LMcK4Him You would think that he would be easier to catch on a bike...or maybe he's just harder to find? I don't know but he sure does get around!
That particular key bank has been hit lots in 20 years. Its close to the freeway and just tucked back far enought off the beaten path for someone to ditch clothes and grab a get away car. Glad to hear no one was hurt.Â
