Army investigating suspicious death at Lewis-McChord

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - The Army is investigating the suspicious death of a soldier's spouse overnight on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, officials confirmed Saturday.
A base spokesperson said the spouse's death involved a soldier who is not assigned to the base.
The soldier was taken into custody and the Army's Criminal Investigation Command is handling the investigation, officials said.
No other details were immediately available.
Base officials would not comment on reports to KOMO News from base residents that a soldier had stabbed his wife to death.
The identity of the spouse and the soldier were not made available.

Bad grammar.
Â
Either you should write, "the identities of the spouse and the soldier were not made available."
Â
Or, "the identity of the spouse and the soldier was not made available."
Â
Or, "the identity of the spouse and the the identity of the soldier were not made available."Â

@caphillkid We don't know who day is.
The wife obviously fell on the knife several times before she died... Perhaps she regained conciousness and then fell on the knife one more time for good measure. Duh!
Back in the early 90's, I had a commander (a LtCol) for 5 days. He had just arrived. That weekend, he lit his wife on fire with lighter fluid and we never heard what happened to him. People are people and whacky stuff happens. The military population comes from you, the public. So whatever is going on in your lives shows up in the military. We don't know if this person was just passing through or what, since the article states he wasn't assigned to the base. Aside from that, the U.S. Army is reporting a suicide a day on average, so I'd guess a 10-year meat grinder war may have something to do with that. Imagine walking down a street every day for a year and every window and every doorway could have a person pointing a rifle at you. I'm guessing you're going to have issues when it's time to go to sleep. Real life isn't Frogger or some sniper video game. It's having your head explode without warning.
Cover agent: until you experience what it is to be a military spouse and to suffer along side your husband because he has PTSD because he did 3 or 4 or even more tours to keep you from having the freedom, like Icarus said, of sipping your starbuck`s coffee and going to the mall and having fun with your girls, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO PRONOUNCE THOSE WORDS. Ptsd is not an excuse it is a true condition that soldiers and other people that have been in violent situation suffer from. Lets see how you would deal with the world if you spend several months in a tent with a gun in your hand and bombs exploding all over, hearing gunfire all through the night, hoping your family is safe back home and that you will return alive to hold them one more time.Â
You just insulted present day soldiers but also soldiers from WWI WWII, vietnam war. You should thank them because if they had not fought for this country would you even have been born?

@SL Well Said.
Gee Fort Lewis... another death.  WHEN WILL YOU HELP OUR SOLDIERS??!!!!  This is disgusting.  Our men and women fight for our freedom and come home to deal with the trauma incurred while doing so.  It's time for Fort Lewis to step up and help our  veterans.  ENOUGH!!!
@makeadifference From the article, the person wasn't assigned there. Probably staying in billeting. That's like blaming a city that has a hotel someone stayed in. How about waiting for all the facts.
as Diana implied I am inspired that a mother can earn $8581 in 4 weeks on the internet. did you look at this link

@CIAassassin @CovertAgent Which one of the following happened recently: Your wife must have just left you for another man, you got fired for perpetual lateness, you were evicted from your apartment, you have no friends, your dog ran away, or all of the above? Cause you are a very bitter person.
@SL I did my time and got out. I've paid my dues, and I know what you are going through and what your spouse has. Target your anger towards cowards like LeNinja, CIAassassin, and CovertAgent.
No sir
I admire you  serving this country.
I just wanted to state that it had become something personal about what one has instead of the issue that soldiers are having.
Â
@northwestsurfer Thank you for your service!
@SL Hey, either you used the wrong word "derived", or you targeted the wrong person. Me, "Northwestsurfer", am on your side, and I AM a veteran. 14th Engineer Bn, Combat Engineer. Want to know my enlistment and ETS date, and where I went to basic/AIT?

@Icarus @LeNinja why bother? They wouldnt have any idea what they are arguing for or against. Narrow minded, and completely one sided. Let them go on, the more they talk, the stupider they look and sound
@LeNinja A redneck? Not even. I'm a flaming eco-liberal greenie. You dont know what a Tacoma TRD is huh? Then google it. No girl, nope. Doesnt mean I dont have fun though.
Have fun with your mercedes, thats not my style though. Truth is, I know you are full of bs

Brilliant incitement repartee what a collective of genius we have represented here tonight; you'd all be world class in a third grade playground debate.
Â
You all would feel differently if you had served.
Â
It sorrows me greatly for all the families affected by this tragedy and it troubles me greatly that this man did this terrible deed. The shocking horror of the act proves that there was something terribly wrong that wasn't addressed. As an American who believes that "support our troops" means something more than sticking a bumper sticker on my car I believe it is important that we as an American public that rests comfortably under the protection that our nations soldiers provide have a duty to actually do something to help these people who come back broken and to hold our Government accountable for sending them in the first place.
Â
Suggesting that PSTD is a dodge of responsibility is just sticking ones head in the sand and avoiding any responsibility. It's weak. These events are happening with great frequency at all our bases where troops are returning because they are not getting the help that is needed. These people answered the call to serve and they deserve better than to be flushed away by an ungrateful America that no longer feels threatened.
Â
Â
Patriotism isn't sending men to war; it is taking care of them when they come home.
Â
Â
Â
Â
@LeNinja Sure do. I work downtown, for a maritime shipping companyl; the kind that operate ships that pull into port. I'm a systems engineer; I earn $60 per hour. I drive a Tacoma TRD, and no girl. What about you?
@LeNinja Nah. I'm not married, I'm employed, I have an apartment, my dog still lives with me, so that wouldnt be me. Probably you though.
 @CovertAgentÂ
Â
You mean as a result of a violent illegal war perpetrated by a corrupt administration on the basis of lies and deceit for corporate profits and at the expense of the American people and economy.
Â
Yeah, I totally understand your compassion for these soldiers that came back broken to a broken economy and there is nothing that anyone can do to make either these kids whole again or the American economy whole again either.  One cannot condone the behavior but America needs to recognize that these guys served and now they suffer and so does the entire American people because of a corrupt administration genuflecting before corporate influence.
Â
Supporting the troops isn't a bumper sticker on your car; it's holding your government accountable by being a good citizen. Taking responsibility for the decisions that government makes and being ready to take responsibility for the consequences...including the broken soldiers coming home.
Â
I was arrested and beaten protesting the start of that war and I have spent days at VA hospitals among those broken soldiers who have returned. So chat that up over some Starbucks and forget about it when you go shopping at Nordstrom's and assuage any guilt that you may harbor with a new pair of sling back peek-a-boo pumps because you're doing exactly as that corrupt administration told to do to be a good American; you went shopping and you haven't stopped.
