BMX bandit robs Mount Vernon bank

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- Police are on the hunt for an armed bank robber who used a BMX bike as his getaway vehicle.
The robber walked into a Skagit State Bank in downtown Mount Vernon on Friday morning at roughly 11 a.m, according to the Skagit County sheriff's office.
The man, who is believed to be 35-40 years old, showed the teller a handgun and demanded money. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the man left the area on a BMX bike, according to witnesses.
After the hold up, deputies found a man matching the robber's description on West Division Street near the bank. When they tried to contact him, the man ran away. Police caught up with him a short time later and determined he was not the robber and was running because he had outstanding warrants.
That man was arrested, but the real robber is still on the loose.
Witnesses say he stands roughly 5'11" tall and has a slim build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing jeans, a dark shirt and sunglasses. His face was hidden by a mask.

All BMXÂ bicycles should be registered, this would stop this

A simple ban on BMX bikes would fix this situation, I'm sure of it.Â
@Kodiak I LOVE THAT. THATS ALLWAYS THE ANSWER.
 @Kodiak Wrong again.  He didn't threaten the teller with the bike.
@cyclops   (6) "Deadly weapon" means any explosive or loaded or unloaded firearm, and shall include any other weapon, device, instrument, article, or substance, including a "vehicle" as defined in this section, which, under the circumstances in which it is used, attempted to be used, or threatened to be used, is readily capable of causing death or substantial bodily harm; RCW 9A.04.110
 @Kodiak Still ignoring the definition of "vehicle"?
@cyclops @rockguy
So a bike doesn't fit into the weapon used as a device instrument, article how exactly? If you read the full statute maybe you could fully understand. So let me help you please reference back to RCW title 9a.56 for your reading pleasure. Oh and while you are there you might find some interesting tid bits in Title 46. Â
 @Kodiak You left out the part where the "vehicle" is defined
@cyclops
No the teller was not threatened, but the bike was used as an instrument or tool in the commission of a Felony, just like the gun was. We need to ban bikes!
So we keep voting down taxes until the cops can't even catch a bank robber on a bicycle?
