Baby born to mom with history of violence found safe

ALOHA, Ore. -- A 7-week-old girl who King County sheriff's detectives said was in great danger was found safe early Monday in Oregon.
The girl was born at Highline Hospital in Burien, Wash. in July to a woman who officials said has a history of abuse, neglect and mental health issues.
Detectives said the woman, 33-year-old Trina P. Curry, used a fake name at the hospital.
Curry has had seven other children removed by state Child Protective Services, and officials issued a public alert last week after learning that she'd given birth again and were unable to find her.
Deputies found Curry and the baby girl at a relative's apartment in Aloha, Ore., said Washington County sheriff's Sgt. Vance Stimler.
The girl was not harmed and Curry is being booked into jail.
Police are still looking for a man who is believed to be the baby's father and may have been with Curry. He has two outstanding felony arrest warrants.
Curry's aunt, Marion Curry, said Trina began having babies when she was barely a teenager.
"I think she had her first kid when she was 13, 14-years old," she said.

I am relieved that the baby was found safe. Hopefully she grows up in a loving environment and suffers no ill effects of her mother's mental illness.
I have to say, I am glad Trina has finally been found. My two stepchildren are her two middle children. My husband married this woman believing he was creating a family with a wonderful woman, but when she gave birth his children were immediately removed from their care. We struggled until 2010 to get them back, but due to all the crazy things this woman does, we were unable to gain custody of them. My stepdaughter and stepson thankfully have Trinas aunt to care for them and she is so wonderful, and they get to have me and their dad by their sides most of the time. I don't know much about Trina except the few times I encountered her. She is mentally ill, and totally reckless, but I don't believe she would have really hurt a baby. You have to understand, her mother abused her as well. Even my children say they don't really like her because she is mean and hits them whenever she wants. Her aunt no longer lets her have contact with them however due to inability to control her temper and emotions. Trina needs help and medication. She doesn't need to be judged. She needs to go the hospital and be treated with meds and get help. She needs to be involuntarily committed because each time she is offered help she refuses because she believes that she has nothing wrong with her and that the state is just totally against her. Pray for her. Her youngest kids are 9,8, 2 and the 8 week old. She needs help not criticism.
@missmollyo It's a very said situation but you have to also understand that when you say she is mentally ill, totally reckless and that her own mother abused her you can't assume she won't hurt a baby that's taking too much of a chance. I do agree with you on she needs be involuntarily committed where she can receive the help she needs.
wow, after reading all the comments you all sound like the Nazi's for forced sterilization. Someone has mental issues sterilize them. Yep all of you will be good little Nazi's.
@beetle73 Just read what is in print!!!!!! or better yet scroll down and read my reply to Mandy!!! I bet you have NEVER seen an 18 month old that was beaten so bad that there was not one place on her body that was not bruised, including her fingers!!! Bite marks on the thighs and back, front teeth all chipped and to add insult to injury a broken femur, all on an 18 months old infant ! Guess her mom should be given one more chance huh!!!! Really wish all that are quick to call everyone Nazi's would get a f'#*king clue!!!! Come on out into the real world!!
Â
@cajunurse  @beetle73 There are so many sad stories such as this and people who do unimaginable things to children.  It hurts my heart to hear these stories, but truth be told no one wants to give this woman another chance.  I think what she has done can not be justified and she should be put in jail for what she did. The Nazi comments come from the mentality of thinking that we can decide who should or should not be able to reproduce.  This woman, yes by all means should be stopped from having anymore children( and should have been stopped long ago), if she was jailed for the abuse to her first child or second she may not be at this point.  She would not have been able to have 3 or 4 or 5 more who knows maybe she would have only had one if it stopped there.  Also if you say it's ok to sterilize someone it goes across the board, then they could do it to you or me depending on what who in power believes.  That is where the Nazi comments come in, it makes it easy for anyone to deem someone else unfit to have children depending on their personal preference when it become common practice or law.  We are in the real world and it is not a perfect world, there is a lot of sadness and abuse that goes on that should never be.  I can not imagine anyone wanting to harm their precious children especially the ones they are supposed to trust the most, it is truly sickening.  I am not standing up for this woman's rights at all, on the sterilization issue I am only protecting mine.  I am not sure if you are indeed a nurse but if you are I am sure you have seen your share of horrors and can understand the perspective to want to stop any more suffering.
 @beetle73:Â
No, there is a HUGE difference here.
Â
The Nazi's did it as an experiement, and EVERYBODY got "fixed", no matter what.
Â
In this case, it is a single person - a person who has proven time & again she cannot or will not care for her children - the state has taken away 7 already. She knew what she was doing (giving birth yet again) was wrong - why else would she have given a false name at the hospital?
Â
She has mental health "issues" - and from her past behavior, it is entirely likely that she could NEVER properl.y care for any child. So how do you keep her from having more children? Or should they just let her keep popping them out - after all the taxpayers are already paying for her first seven children - should we go for a baker's dozen?
Â
And please do not bring NC into the discussion - again, it was done as a blanket policy there - no individual case-by-case considerations.
Â
THIS individual case needs to considered, and sterilization needs to be done ASAP!
@LocalLady  @beetle73: NC's blanket policy only took poor, black woman who they deemed "stupid" and unworthy to procreate?  That seems pretty case-by-case, since no other races were considered, sometimes these woman were just looked and if they looked poor or unkempt, they sterilized them.  They  a lot of these forced sterilizations in California as well.  The correlation to Nazi's is the fact that they perceived they needed to do it to better their race and get rid of the one's they did not want.  That mentality is what we are talking about.  In this situation as she may be a danger to her children I can understand the sentiment but if you force sterilization on her it may turn into a Nazi like situation depending on who is deciding to sterilize who, that is the point.  If you put her in jail she will not be able to harm her children or get pregnant.  We need harsher punishment for child abusers anyway.
@beetle73 First of all that was genocide.....second of all NO ONE with mental issues that severe should be allowed to administer their own medication much less be allowed to procreate without being examine by a trained professional and even then you have tragedies all over the place. While I am not advocating the usage of sterilization there are other ways of monitoring these folks. Since the comments of the others are offending you so much, what's your idea/opinion? Instead of calling everyone Nazi's......
@CheerioSquirts Ok, first of all you need to learn your history, the Nazi's forced sterilization on anyone that showed mental illness or physical deformed and sadly the US did the same.  If she has mental issues, which she clearly has, then she should be in a hospital until she is able to control her mental problems and then she will be able to use birth control for the other issues.
@CheerioSquirts  @beetle73 It's called Eugrenics, not genocide. It was practiced in America long before Nazi Germany adopted it. Look up Buck v. Bell from 1927. Do your own research. Eugenics is nothing to joke about. Say you had a brother who got in trouble with the law a lot. They could say that those genes could be passed on to your offspring, even though you may be a law abiding citizen. A judge orders you to be sterilized and off you go. In Florida, back in the 60's they used to offer African American women who were on welfare $300 to be sterilized and they would do it. What is really scary is that it has never been overturned in America, meaning it could be enforced at any given time.
@beetle73 LOL I know my history there sport, I never said they didn't force it on anyone and I'm not going to get into an argument on the net. It's pointless and no one can make anyone change their mind on here....
Okay, Godwin's Law has now been invoked.
Â
"If ya can't feed 'em... DON'T breed 'em!"
There HAS to be some way to prevent people like this from popping out poor, defenseless babies left and right. Granted, while she's in jail it shouldn't be an issue however once she's out of jail, that's a different story. My idea? For people like this some sort of birth control should be required. If she is on probation then the probation officer can enforce it. If she has an open case with CPS, maybe they can enforce it. If she has mental health issues then couldn't her mom or someone be her guardian and force her to use birth control? Get a court order?
Â
I just want to spit on people like her.
@Tattooed_Angel - 2 words TA, manditory sterilization.
And to think...Republicans actually want to eliminate birth control and abortion...
Â
Â
@caphillkid We want to eliminate birth control? Nah... we just want people to assume some of their "shared responsibility" and pay for it themselves.Â
@Sid Vishess  @caphillkid But at least Sid will be getting his VIagra for free, because we all know an erect penis is more important than having unwanted babies.
@Mandy Patterson  @caphillkid It is to Mrs. Vishess.
Can anyone tell me why, if this woman has a history of child abuse and neglect and every one of her other 7 children were taken away over the years, she was ever allowed to procreate again? For the good of society, it would have been most beneficial to have given her a tubal ligation and not have allowed any more children to suffer...
i wanted to say this women is homeless.i knew her up close because of were i work.she only wanted a chance to show everbody that she could care for her child even though she knew this was wrong. She is a mother and human first, yes she has mental problems and all of her kids were in the system most with family, why are we not worried about the men that had kids with her, what happened in her childhood???? we dont know so just think if this was your mother, sister, daughter, would you be slamming her then?
@Shawnte Loveinglife If this was my mother, sister, daughter I would SURE AS HELL be making sure she didn't have any more children! Those poor children that have had the misfortune of being born by her deserve better! She keeps popping out kids to prove she can care for a child? Are you effing kidding me?! OBVIOUSLY she can't and SHOULDN'T be having children, period!
Â
If she is mentally unstable then someone needs to be appointed legal guardian of her and get her on birth control or have her sterilized! SHE HAS HAD 8 CHILDREN AND DOESN'T HAVE CUSTODY OF A SINGLE ONE. I have NO sympathy for her whatsoever. My sympathy goes to the children she has had and hope that their effed up "mother" doesn't negatively affect their future.
your are right on some levels.i just think jail is not the answer, she needs help but belive me the field i work in i wonder why some one wont stop these woman from having kids if they are not fit to take care of themselves or kids for that matter.well its the law they can not stop them and its just wrong.
Sterilize this woman.Â
Good. Now tie her tubes so she can't have anymore. Curious on why there wasn't an Amber Alert on this one.
Technically they don't issue Amber Alerts unless they have at least a vehicle description and at least partial vehicle license to post out on the reader boards for drivers to be aware of. More then likely neither of these people have a vehicle registered in their name.
I am glad the baby is safe, this woman is clearly not a capable parent. But I want to say that she has CLEARLY been hurt, look into her eyes. I say castrate whoever did this to her from the age of 12-13 also. Such sadness is heartbreaking.
I'm curious what she was booked into jail for. Â Wouldn't it make more sense to book her into a hospital for a hysterectomy?
She should be "encouraged" to get sterilized so she doesn't keep getting knocked up......Â
People are feeling sorry for the mother but i do not feel sorry for someone who has had 7 children and had them all taken away due to abuse or neglect or even drug use thank god the baby was found before something bad happened and yes it was found safe but i believe that was only because the mother was at a relatives house so by herself who knows what would of happe, just a shame that people that want kids cannot have them yet someone like her can have one after another only to have them separated from each other.
She needs to shut that thing off!
This woman needs to be permanently prevented from bringing any more innocent children into the world.Â
Could somebody please steal her uterus?
Idiots needs to stop riding this particular village bicycle folks.
Sterilize this woman. Â
Â
We can give her all the help she needs, but in the meantime, make sure she quits creating more victims.
This is sad all around. If she had her first child at 13, it is possible she was 12 when she conceived. Of course this article does not provide any further details, but I am speculating - wonder how old the father(s) of her children were when she was still a minor? Wonder if any of them were prosecuted? I don't go for forced sterilization. Please look to the history of that in this country before advocating it. If you still do, fine, but please check that out. Check out the State of North Carolina and a very recent law suit based on forced sterilization. I think mandatory birth control in a long-lasting form should be required for all recipients of taxpayer funded assistance- but not permanent sterilization. Right now, that is only applicable to women. Once a birth control pill or shot for men is available on the market, it should be required of all males receiving assistance or residing in a house where assistance is the main income too. This particular person may never be well enough to care for her own children or herself for that matter, but many other people can and do get off of public assistance.
@two loons Sorry, but it's her history of abuse to the children and her drug use that should preclude her from ever having any more. Don't attempt to read it as if we're all ogres for attempting to protect the children. She's an adult, but wholly incapable of acting w/ propriety. Society must now deal w/ the aftermath and part of that should include steriization.
@takncarabizniz  @two But where do you draw the line? Go look up our history of eugenics in the US. You will be amazed at the reasons they used to sterilize innocent people.Â
@keri555 maybe dark ages not the best to describe the 1970s but quite a bit has changed!!!! You still not getting that i am not saying to sterilize the mentally ill and feeble minded!!!  This was very wrong, but hell back then the government was experimenting with LSD on people as well.  Like I said a lot has changed since then; I still stand behind my views, ANY WOMAN OR MAN THAT PHYSICALLY BEATS ON THEIR CHILDREN AND THEY MUST BE REMOVED BY THE STATE SHOULD BE GROUNDS FOR AUTOMATIC STERILIZATION!!!!! NO CHILD DESERVES TO BE BEAT LIKE A DOG AND NO CHILD ASK TO BE BORN!!!! IT IS A PRIVILEGE!!!!
@cajunurse  @Mandy Patterson They sterilized young woman who they deemed "feeble minded" in our country as recently as 1974.  I hope that isn't your idea of the dark ages.
@Mandy Patterson we are not talking about sterilization of the mentally retarded like they did back in the dark ages, why is it some people try to put words in other people's mouths???? What we are saying is if you have abused your child/children and all have been taken from you for abuse and neglect then you should be sterilized, no more no less!!!!!!!!!!!Â
@two loons Honey, you are missing the mark entirely. No one is suggesting she be fixed because of public assistance. It is because she has a history of abusing and neglecting her children. She has had seven prior opportunities to be a parent and it is not getting better, she has learned to hide her victims. That is what they are. A 14 yr old girl should not be able to keep her baby if she is not stable or in a stable home. Period. You are not a grown up just because you can reproduce. So she has had plenty of time to pull herself together to be a capable parent and she has not, whether due to mental illness or just plain being a bad person, makes no difference. She has proven children are not safe in the long run with her and because she seems to make her victims, something needs to stop that. Sorry, but for someone like this, I support sterilization.
@andyourpointis  @two loons Forced sterilization is what the Nazi's did and it has been done in our country as late as the 1970's, you just don't read about it in the History books because it was sort of an experiment to better our society by sterilizing people they deemed unworthy to reproduce (by their standards).  I can't believe people would even consider forcing sterilization although I know it does seem logical in this situation.  Think of the what the power of being able to force sterilization on anyone because they feel you should not be able to have any or any more children could potentially do.  Why does our society accept Octomom, put her on tv and then turn around and treat this woman like trash?  Octomom is just as insane and she can not properly care for all of her what?  13 children either.  This woman has some serious issues and if they would have jailed her for a mandatory 5 or even 10years with the abuse of her previous children she would not have had 8 already.  I do not propose we force sterilization but I do propose we put child abusers in jail or in a mental institution for longer than a couple months, I'm talking years.  She should not be out and able to have sex and have more children I agree but forcing sterilization is going into areas in which we may not be able to return as far as Human Rights.  Human Rights unfortunately applies to all humans not just the responsible ones.
@keri555  @andyourpointis  @two loons I totally agree with you Keri, and it's nice to know that not all people are oblivious to our gloomy past. Nicely written comment!
 @keri555  @andyourpointis  @two loons Weak, pointless example.
The only morons encouraging that queen of losers Octomom are the equally morally bankrupt pigs wanting to make money off of her. If "society" Â â including US, where you would find plenty of comments saying the same thing about that idiot had KOMO not deleted them all when it changed systems â even slightly approved of her stupid decision, "society" would still be buying her stuff and throwing money at her.
The fact she is bankrupt should be your clue and hers that society doesn't support making eight at once any more than it does making eight in 20 years if they're going to be neglected and poorly cared for.Â
 @keri555  @andyourpointis  @two loonsÂ
Thank goodness. Â Great news to start off a week. Â Hope the baby can find a caring home, and I hope the parents have their genitals removed. Â
Here is a prime example of why force sterilization is needed. She pumps out the kids, we end up paying for it.
Praise God that baby is okay. My prayer is that the baby will be adopted by a loving family that will provide a great life.Â
Whoa! She started having kids at 13, currently has given birth to 8 children, father is a convicted felon... talk about a train wreck. I would absolutely support forced sterilization of this woman. No way should she be allowed to keep pumping out kids that are immediately in danger and ultimately wind up in CPS hands.Â
