SEATTLE (AP) - Bail has been set at $150,000 for a 35-year-old man accused of attempting to rob a jewelry store in downtown Seattle and shooting at a security guard who tackled him in the streets.
Edmond Maynor appeared at his bail hearing Saturday. It was unclear whether he had an attorney yet.
In a probable-cause statement, Seattle police say Maynor pointed a gun at the owner of a jewelry store in Westlake Center Friday morning. A gunshot was fired in the store and the suspect fled. Police say Maynor was confronted by a security guard from a nearby hotel and shot the guard in an attempt to get away.
The guard still managed to tackle the suspect and passers-by helped hold him down until police arrived.

I think we should hold the citizens that stopped that robbery suspect to the same standards the cops are held.
Â
I heard one person who was kneeing the robber in the back of the head say "You arent going anywhere MotherFer!"
That person should be given 3 to 30 days unpaid days off from their work for using swear words while in a deadly situation. There is no call for swearing in ANY situation no matter how bad.
Â
And why did it take 4-5 people to hold the guy? They were SO violent. I always hear on these forums " WHY DID IT TAKE SO MANY COPS".
Oh thats right. All the cops are Kung Fu experts or have all personally been trained by Spock in the Vulcan neck pinch right?
Â
All those citizens on video and should be investigated for Excessive Use of Force and Assault. Clearly they "overracted" to the situation.
Â
If any of this sounds insane. It is. And its what the cops have to hear and deal with all the time. If they made a movie showing all the crap cops have to deal with now and the criticisms such as "swearing", people would walk out because it was so dumb.
Â
Watch "Demolition Man" sometime. Thats the police force you are going to get. Hope you all are ready to do this stuff for yourselves because the cops are being told not to get involved.
Â
Â
Are you a for real troll!?!?!
Swearing, jaywalking, a California stop,  smoking pot.....where does the insanity end???? At any rate---being a cop certainly isn't easy anymore---its just that, as in all govt agencies anymore, corruption and cover up run  rampant. Many of those making and enforcing rules and laws seem to believe they are for some reason above them.
I agree. That bail is low. With all the shootings in Seattle and he shot someone, that is a slap in the face, and he has a potential of some stupid person bailing him out so he can do it again.Â
I see Komo deleted my earlier comment. Gee Thanks.
more proof of the stupidity of our laws; a man fires a gun at another person after robbing a store and he gets bail.
$150,000 bail only? What a joke , he better be charged with 2 counts of attempted murder, armed robbery and resisting arrest.
If he were smart, he would stay in jail instead of returning to the streets...there are people who will recognize him.
"If he were smart...." he wouldn't have done the crime in the 1st place!! I also wonder why there aren't a myriad of other charges, like discharging a firearm within the city, assault, and attempted murder, just to name a few.
@JT1958 From later reports he may already be facing those charges.
The DA has a range of time to charge, and can add additional charges if warranted.
Many times they will wait until the investigation is complete - avoids embarrassing changes later on...
IF he were smart...
@OrcasThunder I truly think that man is lacking the "smart" gene. :)
@Tattooed_Angel  @OrcasThunder Yeah, the surprise in that plaintive cry "Get off me!" says a lot about his view of life...
....seems like low bail for robbery and attempted murder. I think I would have liked to have seen a round of side walk basketball with this dudes head while waiting for the police. "Honest officer...he was resisting"
@Sydthepiper In the video you can see someone step on his nose for a few seconds as he screams out in pain. I enjoyed that.
